Occurring fifty days after Easter, this sacred event marks the fulfillment of Christ’s promise and the birth of the Christian community. Scripture declares, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8).

Pentecost reminds believers of God’s abiding presence, spiritual gifts, and the call to proclaim the gospel with boldness and unity. It is a time for prayer, repentance, renewal, and fresh dedication to God’s mission in the world.

The Olivet Assembly of South Asia recommends that all local churches across the region hold a special worship service on Pentecost Day, inviting congregations to seek the fullness of the Holy Spirit and renewed passion for faithful Christian living.

The Ascension affirms Christ’s lordship, heavenly intercession, and promised return. For believers, it is a call to faithful witness, holy living, and hopeful expectation, knowing that the exalted Lord reigns with authority and sends His Spirit to empower His people until He comes again in glory.

In this sacred season of hope, the Olivet Assembly of South Asia encourages all local churches to observe Good Friday with appropriate worship services at times convenient to their congregations. Believers are invited to meditate on the meaning of the cross and prepare their hearts for the joy of Easter and the promise of resurrection.

As we enter the Lenten season (Wed, 18 February 2026 – Thu, 2 April 2026) tomorrow, the General Office of Olivet Assembly of South Asia warmly greets everyone and prayerfully wishes all a blessed and spiritually enriching journey throughout this sacred season.

Lent is a forty-day season of prayer, fasting, and repentance observed by many Christians as preparation for Easter.

The term comes from Old English lencten, meaning springtime or lengthening of days, expressing both seasonal change and spiritual renewal.

The season begins on Ash Wednesday, i.e. 18^th February this year, when ashes placed on the forehead symbolize humility, mortality, and the call to return to God.

Christian tradition connects Lent’s forty days to biblical examples: Moses fasted before receiving the law, Elijah fasted before encountering God at Horeb, and Jesus fasted in the wilderness while resisting temptation.

Early Christian Bishop Maximus of Turin later interpreted these events as symbols of spiritual renewal and preparation for divine mission.

Throughout Lent, believers practice self-examination, Scripture reading, charity, and devotion, reflecting on Christ’s suffering and resurrection while preparing to celebrate Easter with renewed faith, hope, and gratitude.

This important gathering will bring together leaders, pastors, and representatives from across the nation for a time of worship, fellowship, prayer, and strategic planning.

The theme of the Congress was “Being the Church in the Changed Context of India.”

Representing OAI, Rev. Dr. Peter Bei Chatlai Beita and Pastor Abraham D’Souza joined senior Evangelical leaders from across the nation. Rev. Peter was honored to lead the closing prayer on the opening day and expressed gratitude for EFI’s warm recognition and hospitality.

OAI was further recognized on the penultimate day when Bishop Biswajit Pani, President of OA India, presented a special gift, including a shawl and gift wrap, in appreciation of the Assembly’s participation, small technical contribution, upon the kind invitation by the general secretary, Rev. Vijayesh Lal.

The Congress featured plenary sessions, biblical reflections, and 13 track discussions, along with the inauguration of EFI’s 75th anniversary celebrations.

OAI leaders reaffirmed their commitment to serve faithfully, strengthening the church in India in partnership with EFI as a member body.

A team of doctors, nurses, and volunteers—including OA India church members—provided essential healthcare services. OA India expressed gratitude to Caleb Institute’s leadership and to the medical professionals who served with dedication.

The event was also supported by Shri Ram Mansingh Ji of the Bharatiya Janata Party, who encouraged residents to benefit from the services. Pastor Udaya Ananda of AG Church in New Delhi brought patients from Badarpur to participate.

OA India reaffirmed its commitment to work with like-minded organizations to support the health and well-being of people across India.

Reflecting on the ministry of Jesus and the early church, OA leadership reminded pastors and members that the Church’s primary call is to fulfill the Great Commission with faith and passion. The focus is not only on church growth but on raising faithful disciples who will transform society with the message of Christ’s love and salvation.

“Now is not the time to grow weary or complacent,” the message urged. “Let us run with endurance, guided by the Spirit and committed to advancing God’s Kingdom in our towns, cities, and nations.”

A verse that captures this spirit is Hebrews 12:1 (NIV): “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Churches are encouraged to evaluate their ministries, rekindle their vision, and realign with the mission of Christ as they step into this new season.
